Ingredients
- 150 grams of black lemon
- 50 grams of Ginger
- 500 grams of Sugar
- 2 kilograms of whole wheat flour
- 600 grams of oil
- Prepare the Filling: Grind 15 grams of black lemon into a fine powder. Mix the ground black lemon with 50 grams of sugar and 5 grams of ginger powder to create the filling. Adjust the sweetness and spiciness according to your taste preference.
- Make the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine 200 grams of whole wheat flour with 60 grams of oil. Gradually add 30 grams of water, kneading the mixture until a smooth dough forms. Adjust the water as needed to achieve the right consistency.
- Shape the Dough: Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and roll each portion into a smooth ball, ensuring uniformity in size and shape.
- Fill and Mold: Take each dough ball and flatten it slightly in the palm of your hand. Place a small amount of the prepared filling in the center of each flattened dough circle. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, sealing it completely to form a round shape. Place the filled dough balls into a special mold designed for Kleija, ensuring they are well-spaced apart to allow for expansion during baking.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to the appropriate temperature. Once the oven is ready, place the mold containing the filled dough balls into the oven. Bake until the Kleija is golden brown and cooked through, typically for a specified amount of time depending on your oven and the size of the dough balls.
- Serve: Once baked, remove the Kleija from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the delicious flavor and aroma of this traditional Buraydah dish either warm or at room temperature.
